knowledge according to the image of Him who created him."
Colossians 3:9-10
"THE BELIEVER'S NEW LIFE IN CHRIST" - Part 3
"Therfore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Cor. 5:17).
That is the theme of our text in Colossians 3:1-11 as it is practically worked out in the believer's life. In part one we saw our SPIRITUAL
POSITION Christ (v. 1-4). In part two we started to focus on our EARTHLY PRACTICE of that spiritual position (v. 5-9), such as
putting to death sexual sins. In part three we will continue to look at our EARTHLY PRACTICE of putting off such sins as anger, wrath,
and lying (v. 8-9). The goal or PURPOSE (v. 10-11) of our new life in Christ is to continue to put on or become more Christ-like. The
key to that sanctification process is to be renewed in the knowledge of Him (v. 10). That will take place in our minds by the power of the
Holy Spririt using the Word of God.
